Everton new boy Kevin Miralles has said that he turned down a move to Arsenal to sign for David Moyes's Everton in a £6 million move from Greek side Olympiakos.
The Belgian striker, who missed Everton's 1-0 win at Goodison Park against Manchester United due too him signing too late to be registered, is likely to make his debut at the weekend.
"Discussions were at quite an advanced stage with Arsenal," said Mirallas.
"[But] I think I had a possibility of playing in more games, for longer periods, with Everton."
Arsenal have signed strikers Lukas Podolski from Cologne and Olivier Giroud form French Ligue 1 champions Montpellier and saw Robin Van Persie leave in a £24 million move to Manchester United. And Kevin Miralles believes he made the right decision to join the Toffees. "It was always clear that it was going to be totally down to me to make the decision [about who to join]," he said.
"What's important for me at this stage in my Premiership career, just about to embark in a new league, is to get plenty of time on the field."
Kevin Miralles has scored 7 times for Belgium and helped Olympiakos to a 39th league title last season. Miralles was introduced to the Everton fans before Monday's victory over United, when his when his fellow countryman Marouane Fellaini scored a second half winner, and he hopes to make his Everton debut at Aston Villa on Saturday.
"It was important to get a big game and a big result under our belt," said Mirallas, who admits the presence of fellow Belgian Fellaini in the Everton team was also an influencing factor in him moving to Goodison Park.
"We now need to build on that. Hopefully I will be able to take part in Saturday's game."
Miralles joins a host of other Belgian talents in the Premier League including Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal); Eden and Thorgan Hazard (Chelsea); Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea); Moussa Dembele (Fulham); Vincent Kompany (Man City); Simon Mignolet (Sunderland); and Marouane Fellaini (Everton).
