Cahill off to the Big Apple

Off to the Big Apple!
Everton have agreed a terms for the transfer of Tim Cahill to Major League Soccer side the New York Red Bulls.

The fee agreed for the 32-year old Australian midfielder is believed to be around £1 million and Cahill has already agreed outline personal terms with the New York based side.


The 32-year old Australian signed for Everton from Millwall in 2004 for a fee of £1.5 million after he impressed in Millwall's run to the FA Cup final in that year.

Cahill made the move to England in August 1997 and joined Millwall from his hometown club, Sydney United on a free transfer.

In Millwall's run to the Fa Cup final the Australian scored three goals which included the winner against Sunderland in the semi-final, though the London club lost 3-0 to Manchester United in the final at the Millennium Stadium.

He made his international debut in 2004 and has featured for Australia in the past two World Cups in Germany and South Africa.

Cahill, who recently signed a new contract at Goodison Park in May 2010, is a fan favorite at Everton but only had a disappointing three goals last season after not finding the back of the net the whole of 2011.
