| Corinthians finally win Copa Libertadores! |
Brazilian side Corinthians won their first Copa Libertadores after beating Boca Juniors on aggregate 3-1. Corinthians have won just about everything from FIFA Club World Cup to 26 state championships, though South America's continental crown had eluded them up until this season. Boca looked intent on playing conservatively and it seemed Corinthians wouldn't break them down in open play, but in the 55th minute they were awarded a free kick and after a scramble in the box Danilo found Emerson who then put the Brazilian outfit ahead. A defensive mix up lead to Corinthians and Emerson's second goal of the game in the 72th minute. It finished 2-0 at the end the game and 3-1 on aggregate, thus handing Corinthians the one title that had eluded them for so long. Corinthians Copa Libertadores 2012 winners!
